Skyline presents Shattered, the story of Helios and his son Phaethon. The story follows the sun God Helios who grants his only mortal son one wish, which comes at a cost. Inspired by ancient Greek pottery, we used 3D animation with a 2D style to portray the father's emotions visually and through narrative.

As the only 3D artist and rigger in the production team, I was in charge of modeling and texturing all the animation characters and environment. Rigged the characters and developed the rigging tools in Maya using Python.

Global Game Jam 2015, Pittsburgh IGDA @ AIP, PA

PLAY NOW!

It is a really interesting and unforgettable experience for me! Create a playable game in only 48 hours. The topic of Global Gam Jam 2015 is "What do we do now ?" . We designed a unique game mechanics by switching between two balls to get the potion . "Bo" is light as bubble and can fly in the air though "Pa" is more heavy but smooth who can slip along the terrain to speed up. 

After Global Game Jam, we kept polishing the game and made 15 levels based on 3 themes. Now it is called "PABO's Adventure" and is available in Windows Store and App Store.


Private Ryan

Building Virtual Worlds, Round5 "Festival Round"

Private Ryan is a virtual reality game where player will first take a virtual balance training, and then execute a mission using the balance skill. Player will sense the feel of height and the difficulty to balance in a virtual world.

To implement this game, we need to make a moveable Oculus Rift and physical-virtual world mapping, leading to several really hard challenge for us.

  • Graphics Power Limitation

    Oculus Rift does not support dual graphics card and this can be a problem on laptop because we can not disable integrated graphics card for that almost all the mordern laptops use integrated graphics card to export image.
    Therefore, we can only use laptops with integrated graphics card only.(We choose MacBook for its light weight.) At the same time, VR experience needs realistic graphics and as higher frame rate as possible. So we do a lot of optimization to reduce the rendering burden without losing much graphics details.

As a small team of 5 students (2 programmers, 2 artists, 1 sound designer), we try to create a story-based game in three weeks.  Image from leap motion is used for real hand tracking and wireless mouse attached on the shoe could allow user to free move in virtual world.
StoryBoard: After being invited to a party by a famous former classmate, Lindsey is dismayed to find no one is home and searches his home for clues. Leap Motion Hands.

Eagle King

As a small team of 5 students (2 programmers, 2 artists, 1 sound designer), we try to build up a free world in two weeks. We use indirect control to lead the user to reach the top of the mountain without any instructions.

Building Virtual Worlds, "Lightening Round" 

As a small team of 5 students (2 programmers, 2 artists, 1 sound designer), we try to build up a fun-focused world in only one week. We successfully created an intuitive but challenging gameplay by using leap motion to race marionettes and it made all the class excited and said "Wow".

As a small team of 5 students (2 programmers, 2 artists, 1 sound designer), we try to build up the experience of death in two weeks. The user acts as indication of family’s love to enter the old patient's body and fight with the pain. The monster actually is a metaphor of the pain, and the user’s behavior will result in different game endings which the old man will peacefully die or badly.
